More fossil fuel infrastructure has no place in a climate-safe future
Pieridae Energy is asking the federal government for $1 billion in financial assistance for its proposed $13 billion Goldboro liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore.
The company says federal support is essential to breaking ground on this project.
But we are in a climate crisis. The Government of Canada should invest in climate solutions and accelerate the necessary transition to a clean energy economy. It should not use public dollars to prop up corporate projects that will only further fuel global climate chaos.
The Goldboro project has not undergone a proper up-to-date federal assessment of its climate impacts, threatens to undo gains made curbing Nova Scotia’s greenhouse gas emissions, and would expand fossil fuel extraction and pipeline operations across the country.
In short, projects like Goldboro LNG have no place in a climate-safe future. Tell Minister of Environment and Climate Change Jonathan Wilkinson and key cabinet members to say no to financing the Goldboro LNG project.
